Hytect has a unique surface coating that is fired into the glaze of the tile at high temperatures. When coated tiles come into contact with light, active oxygen is released via photocatalysis. This inhibits the growth and spread of bacteria and mold.  Water alone is able to rinse even oil based messes without the use of harsh chemicals.  Furthermore, Hytect activates an air-purification process during which pollutants such as formaldehyde are neutralized.

Commercial uses for Hytect

Hytect surfaces are useful for any interior application where easy cleaning and a clean interior climate is required and any exterior that needs to present an attractive façade with minimal maintenance. There are however some applications which could especially use the properties of Hytect tiles to conform with regulations or protect from unwanted substances which easily accumulate in certain areas:

  • Pools & Spas:  Maximum cleanliness is expected in swimming pools. Hytect ceramic tiles work towards this goal in an environmentally-friendly manner. Dust, dirt, or soap and cream residues are unable to gain a foothold on Hytect surfaces.
  • Showers at sports facilities or gyms:  As soon as Hytect surfaces come into contact with water, a fine film of water is formed on them. Dirt is simply infiltrated and easily wiped away.
  • Healthcare:  Hygiene measures are of utmost importance in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and schools. Hytect helps to comply with them using active oxygen to reliably destroy bacteria, viruses, germs, and spores. This process is undetectable as it can't be seen or smelled yet still gives long-term support in surface disinfection.

The new Basic Stone Collection was inspired by slate structures. The ceramic surface of the 2x2 unglazed porcelain stoneware mosaic with Hytect coating represents the theme of slate through a relief mix combined with subtle graphics in a modern yet durable manner. Fine shimmering highlights and subtle color contrasts support the stony character of the surface. The color range is based on natural slate tones: sludge, beige, light grey, medium grey and black.

The Loop Collection offers a penny round mosaic tile with a wide range of intensive and muted color gradations in blue and green, vibrant yellow, orange and red hues, shades of grey and brown through to jet black. Delicate transparency for lightness and timelessness, luminous saturation for highlights and expression.

The Fresh Collection offers a harmonious range of modern and fresh colours in the popular 1x1 and 2x2 mosaic formats enabling individual yet uncomplicated designs. Particular colors are available in both matte and glossy finishes.

With a fascination for patterns, characters and ornaments, the new Pattern collection was inspired by the patterns of historic tiles from various countries. The patterns are slightly disrupted, attributing the mix a soft used look, optical depth and a charming level of naturalness.  The color range comprises of gray, blue, and brown hues of various intensity as well as natural white as a linking color, providing brightness.

Inspired by the motion of the water, the Amano Collection is characterized by a novel, finely textured relief surface. In combination with blurred glazes, Amano generates watercolor-like effects and lends the series natural charm as well as exclusive vitality. The Amano Collection distinguishes itself by delicately transparent, muted colours and smooth contrasts. When the light is refracted on the glossy surface, Amano impresses with sparkling reflections.

Beveled tiles such as District are currently very trendy. Whether in kitchens, bathrooms, shops, or living areas – they ensure an elegant, minimalistic, and stylish look. District offers a choice of seven trendy colors: almond beige, white, ash grey, miami mint, denim blue, racing green and burgundy red.
